The Bento Box is a handlebar bag designed for cycling adventures that has (multiple) mid-ride-refuelling sessions planned. It's also perfectly capable as a small and compact bikepacking front bag for a rider that has mastered a minimalist set-up. Just undo the Fidlock buckle, unroll the top and throw in all you wish to carry.
The main compartment features 5 liters of capacity in total and is sealed from the outside with a rolltop closure. It will hold everything you need for a big day out on the bike: food, coffee, layers, stove, spares and the rest. Two small internal pockets are located on the rear panel inside the bag to hold some small items that'll otherwise get lost. It's also a perfect place to store a filled up Foldable Pocket
There is a seperate large zippered pocket that easily holds 4 large energy bars (think Clif bar size) with some room to spare. Ofcourse it'll keep anything similair in combined size like a phone, keys, gloves, small multi-tool and an energy bar.
The bag is made with strength and durability in mind. Durable and weather resistant Cordura fabrics are used on the outside and a bright orange polyester lining on the inside. A high quality YKK water resistant zipper keeps the front pocket zipped up while the main comparment is closed with a very nice Fidlock buckle. The bag's sides and bottom are reinforced with a tough sheet so it'll keep it's shape regardless of the ammount of content it's holding. All of the panels are sewn together with bombproof threads to keep the bag together for a long long time.
It's ready for anything you throw in and at it! It however has it's limitations regarding wet weather conditions. Even though the fabrics are waterproof and the zipper very water resistant the seams are not. In wet condition s things inside will stay dry for a while but water will find it's way inside eventually. Using dry bags for the items that can't deal with moisture that well is a very good idea.
The bag measures 25cm wide by about 17cm tall (rolled up) and 12cm deep. For reference: the handlebar in the pictures is a 46cm Salsa Cowbell.
