The Detour destruction crew
While Detour is very much a one-man operation I do believe that bringing in external input makes the bags I make a heck of a lot better. Every product should undergo rigorous real world testing to make sure each product that leaves the studio is 100% adventure proof and fit for all kinds of rides and challenges. To achieve this I have assembled the Detour Destruction Crew: a group of outdoor enthousiasts that push my ideas and products to the limit.
The DDC: They test, challenge and destroy to make sure all products can support you to the limits of your adventures. Meet them below!
The maker
Bas Overbeek
It's very important to me to thoroughly test the bags myself before I take them into production because during testing I often find things about the bag that I never imagined when designing it in the studio. I really like this stage of product development as it feels closest to playing and it's also a great excuse to go out for a ride.
Wrecking ball
Erwin Sikkens
With his sheer amount of enthousiasm and energy this man is bound to push any bag to it's limits. Erwin is an avid route builder and a amazing (cycling) photographer. He comes up with great ideas for new bike adventures and knows how to document them like no other.
Mr. technical
Bram de Beurs
Being a cabinet maker Bram knows how to put things together, make them pretty and last forever. His technical feedback on new products is invaluable to Detour. This man knows how to build awesome campfires so Bram naturally is 'Chief of Fires' when we're camping out in the woods.
Chief of Style & Gear
Ben Lucas
Ben is the guy to turn to when you're looking for something special and unique. Ben has an amazing eye for detail and style; He's that guy that has a set-up that is super carefully put together with cool and usefull stuff. Be wary of Ben and his long and crazy strong legs: he's a destroyer when it comes down to power to the pedals.
An eye for design
Marc
Marc is a designer, so naturally he is all about look and feel; outdoor culture is his 'thing' for sure. He's always excited to go out for a night in the woods or any adventure for that matter.
The bright mind
Falco Wienberg
Falco’s all about making things happen, a true jack-of-all-trades kinda guy. He helps me to grow the business side of Detour intelligently. His true favourite lifestyle is off the grid and out in nature - either bivvying out by bike or reaching further with a self-converted VW camper.
The Weimaraner Cannonball
Scout
Life would not be the same without Scout being overly enthousiastic when I get back home from a ride. Scout's favourite things to do are playing fetch, running (he's fast as lightning), and chewing on dog bones.
The places we test Detour gear
Living in Arnhem means that we're only a stones throw away from amazing nature like the 'Veluwezoom', 'Nationaal park Hoge Veluwe', de 'Utrechtse Heuvelrug', the 'Kroondomeinen' and all the places in between.
